The Director of Estimating will oversee the estimating department and ensure the success of all estimating operations. Provide exemplary leadership to the estimating team ensuring that all estimates, schedules, constructability reviews, value engineering efforts, and purchase planning efforts and documents align with company goals. The position requires coordination, planning and strategizing closely with Preconstruction, Operations, Engineering, Procurement and Business Development teams. Mentor and provide training and development plans to team members and ensure individuals meet and exceed goals. Your expertise in electrical utility preconstruction and ability to manage and lead a team will be key to your success in this role.

Responsibilities:

Lead and execute estimating strategies to drive departmental growth and ensure scalability of systems, processes, and team structure.
Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting procurement, budgeting, scheduling, and performance requirements.
Oversee bid strategy, proposal preparation, vendor/subcontractor coordination, and presentation efforts to secure successful project outcomes.
Ensure estimating quality, accuracy, and risk assessment meet company standards and align with project and client needs.
Support seamless project handoff from estimating to construction, collaborating with operations and project management teams.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
10+ years of estimating experience, including 5+ years leading electrical preconstruction teams.
Proven success in large electrical utility, renewable energy (Solar/BESS), and substation projects valued $5–$50M.
Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and client relationship skills with deep knowledge of electrical construction, materials, and market practices.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Primavera, Bluebeam, and MC2 (ICE) or equivalent estimating software.
